The Popamoto Collection

If you've wandered onto this site - Welcome!
If you are a friend, or have been here before, you know what to do.

I've been collecting pop music since I was a kid in the 60's.  The computer era has put my collecting into overdrive!

There are over 12,000 tunes so far.  The actual collection on my hard drive (all are .wav files) has music from the 1940s to the 1980s but the core collection is between 1955 to 1971.  None of these tunes were downloaded from the internet.  All of them are original recordings.

I have discovered thousands of tunes which were not widely played on the radio, or which sold very few in the stores.  It's been a very rewarding experience.

I'd like to share this list with the world, so here it is...

(BTW - Don't like pop-ups?, blinking advertising?, annoying graphics?  Good News!  There is no dancing baloney here.)

The column on the far right is the highest position the song received on Billboard's Top Pop Singles chart.
"unch" means the tune was uncharted (great tunes you've never heard - ask me about them)
RB means Rhythm and Blues
e.g. "9963" (instead of 1963) means it was probably issued in1963

Tunes for download (mp3) to whet your apatite (illegal! - yeah, I'm bad!):

Lord, Mr. Ford - Jerry Reed  1973 - a comedic look at the auto industry

Bomb Iran - Vince Vance & The Valiants  1980 - as infamously sung by John McCain.

Here's an excellent, yet uncharted M&P tune: Straight Shooter - The Mamas & The Papas 1967

This is an overlooked high energy rocker from the early 60's: Let's Have A Party - Wanda Jackson 1960

My favourite version of this blues favourite: Sweet Home Chicago - Foghat 1978
